Visitors now have a rare opportunity
to explore areas of the vast 175,000-acre working
ranch through rolling green hillsides
with majestic Mauna Kea as a backdrop. Visitors
learn first-hand about Parker Ranch, with its deep
history, beautiful landscapes, stunning vistas,
variety of plant life, and may even catch glimpses
of pheasant, Francolins, or wild pigs.
Rides
are available three times daily
except Sundays at 8:15
a.m., 12:15 p.m. and a special sunset ride at 4:00
p.m.Morning
and noon rides are 2 hours duration, the sunset
ride is 1 and 1/2 hours.
.Minimum age requirement is 7 years and older making this an ideal family activity,
whether family members are beginners, intermediate
or advanced riders. Cowboys of Hawaii at Parker
Ranch can arrange private rides for
special excursions as well and even
exclusive Japanese-speaking rides are available.
Riders
will feel like Hawaiian paniolo (cowboys) as they
ride through stone corrals where up to 5,000 Hereford
cattle were rounded up after being brought down
from the slopes of Mauna Kea. A visit to the racetrack
where Parker Ranch Thoroughbreds were trained and
still hold the record for speed is included in the
excursion. The rides all begin at the
Blacksmith Shop on Pukalani Road.
The Ranch is minutes from
the tiny Kamuela Airport which offers scheduled
service from other islands. Parker Ranch is accessible
by road from many directions. From the Kohala Coast,
take Waikoloa Road up the slope past Waikoloa Village,
turn left on 190 and drive past Parker Ranch pastures
as you head to Waimea. From Kona, take 190 inland
to experience the mountain route. From Hilo, drive
north on 19 which skirts the Hamakua Coast to Waimea.

Ride
the Rim of Hawaii's "Valley of the Kings."
Hele Mai Kakou! Come with us on a breathtaking 2 ½ hour journey along the
rim of Waipi'o Valley to the top
of Hi'ilawe, one of Hawaii's highest and most
beautiful waterfalls.
From historic Kukuihaele Village, we ride past
sugar cane fields and taro patches, enjoying spectacular
views accessible only on horseback.
Hear rushing waters plunge into the valley and
savor the vista of a mile wide black sand beach
edging the valley below. Maui's Haleakala seems
to float on the horizon, as Mauna Kea and the
rainforest clad hills of Kohala surround you.
Take a lunch break at a shady glen and soak it
all in.

hour hidden waterfall ride. Ride,

experience. This ride takes you along the rim
of the valley, enjoying the same rich views as
our regular 2 ½ hour ride, and then continues
back along the stream that feeds the spectacular
Hi'ilawe Falls.
As we ride deeper and deeper into the rainforest we encounter a series of smaller,
beautiful waterfalls and secret pools. Soon
it's time to tie up your horse and hike down to
a very private waterfall spilling into a pristine ginger lined pool. Fantasies
