Hummer Safari Tours

2 trips daily - Monday thru Saturday
Morning Tour - check-in 8:15am
Afternoon Tour - check-in 12:15pm

Turn the clock back a thousand years on our Hummer Safari into the ancient rain forests and historical sites of old Hawaii... untouched by time, unspoiled by man. Local guides take you deep into this otherwise inaccessible Kohala refuge where the only sounds are water splashing into a hidden pond and perhaps the wind whispering your name.

The H-1 Hummers comfortably navigate the spectacular but rugged terrain of the rainforest in the Kohala Mountain Range, on the northern tip of the Big Island. This area is totally inaccessible to the public. The trip goes from 200 ft. to 2300 ft. elevation, and features several scenic waterfalls, pristine riverbeds and ravines. Our local guides are well versed in the extensive historical and cultural background of the area, as well as the flora and fauna of the rainforest. At several points on the trip there are spectacular panoramic coastal views. There is a stop for beverages and snacks where guests may swim in an exclusive hidden waterfall pool.

Since this is a wilderness activity, appropriate footwear and attire is essential. A typical day in the Kohala Mountains is sunny with scattered clouds and occasional showers. As with all mountain areas in Hawaii, the weather is constantly changing. The elevation is between 500 and 2000 feet above sea level.

What to Wear: Hiking boots or hiking sandals, appropriate attire for outdoor activities
swim attire, cap or hat, sunglasses.
What to Bring: towel, change of clothes, camera

Volcano Special - GAC

Volcano Special - full day bus tour
Leaves From Hilo Hotels Approx. 8:30 AM

A true adventure, this tour gives you a rich cultural experience and an exciting view of nature at work. A picturesque ride through waterfalls and gardens gives way to the austere vistas of dormant volcanoes, lava beds, steam vents and craters. All the while, you’ll hear stories of Pele, ancient Hawaiian goddess of the volcano, who settled in the crater of Halema`uma`u at the summit of Kilauea. This opens way to many other Hawaiian stories and volcanic artifacts that you’ll find at Jagger Museum and Kilauea Visitor Center at the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. While Mother Nature is unpredictable, you might be able to catch a glimpse of active lava flows from Kilauea which has been erupting since 1983. But, even if you don’t, the panoramic views will leave you awestruck in the presence of nature’s toils.
