Big Island Kona Submarine Tour

An unforgettable 35-minute journey aboard an Atlantis 48-passenger submarine, as featured in National Geographic television specials, where guests explore a 25-acre natural coral reef and its marine inhabitants! A new adventure awaits you at depths up to 100 feet! Enjoy the view in air-conditioned comfort and safety.

Allow Atlantis Submarines to show you the other 96% of Kona you can't see any other way. Treat yourself to Kona's most beautiful and captivating scenery, habitats, and isolated treasures. You'll descend 100 feet into another version of paradise -- one hidden even from the people of Hawaii for centuries. Atlantis Kona offers a journey aboard a 48-passenger submarine. Guests will discover an 18,000-year-old, 25-acre fringing coral reef, which boasts a vibrant ecosystem. Passengers view coral formations and tropical fish. Tours provide narration in Japanese via headsets. Reservations for this tour are highly recommended.
This tour runs daily at 10:00am, 11:30am, and 1:00pm. Tours are also offered at 2:30pm (Monday through Friday)

90 minutes - Children must be a minimum of 36" in height to ride the submarine. Each guest is required to independently navigate a nearly vertical 7-step ladder into and out of the submarine. Guests must check-in at the Atlantis Submarine ticket office on Alii Drive located across from the Kailua-Kona Pier. Check-in required 30 minutes before the scheduled submarine tour time.

Atlantis Submarine tours depart seven days a week beginning at 10:00 a.m. weather permitting

Actual underwater tour time is 35 minutes. Shuttle boat ride from the pier to the submarine site plus transfer is 10 minutes each way. Children must be 36 inches or taller to ride the submarine.

Passengers must be physically capable of ascending and descending a near vertical ladder in order to ride the submarine All tours are in English. Headsets providing narrations in Japanese are available upon request. Food and beverages will not be provided on this tour.

As the majestic island sun begins to set, you'll join in the fun at the Royal Kona Resort for a spectacular evening at the Lava Legend and Legacies Luau & Revue. This exciting traditional Polynesian luau is held in the resort's oceanfront coconut grove and includes a traditional shell lei greeting, open bar through dinner, torch lighting and Imu Ceremony and Kailua-Kona's premier all-you-can-eat Polynesian buffet.

Following the island-style feast, you'll enjoy our cast of musicians and dancers as they take you through a fast-paced journey through the South Pacific Islands. Their show includes songs and dances rarely seen in typical luau shows and is highlighted by the Samoan 'fire knife' dance. The performance alone will keep you talking for months.

Submarine tour is 70 minutes in length.
Food and beverages will not be provided during the submarine adventure.
Passengers must be physically capable of ascending and descending a near vertical ladder in order to ride the submarine. Children must be at least 36 inches tall to ride the submarine.

Helicopter tour is 50 minutes in length.

FAA regulations require all companies to weigh passengers and their carry-on items prior to boarding the helicopter.
If inaccurate weights are given, customers may have to reschedule to a different flight or cancel. If a standard aviation seat belt is too small or the passenger is over 240 pounds (108.8 kg.) he/she may be required to purchase a comfort seat on the ASTAR.

CANCELLATION POLICY: A 72-hour cancellation or change of tour notice is required for all helicopter tours. If for any reason you decide to cancel or change your reservation, you must notify us 72-hours prior to the tour date. Sorry, cancellations or changes made within 72-hour of the tour are not refundable and will be charged in full.

All flights are weather permitting. If for any reason a flight was cancelled by Sunshine Helicopters due to the weather, your ticket will be fully refunded or you may choose to re-schedule your tour plans.

Kona Submarine plus Snorkel OR Whale Watch Cruise

Pair your adventure beneath the sea on the Atlantis Submarine with a Body Glove Snorkel-Dolphin Cruise.

This tour operates only on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Guests and invited to choose one of two available submarine tour times at 10:00 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. The Body Glove Snorkel-Dolphin Cruise departs at 2:00 p.m.

Every dive is unique and you never know what you will see... beautiful, vibrant reef fish, eels, lobster... maybe even a turtle or
a reef shark! Your journey begins with a 10-15 minute scenic boat ride out to the dive site, followed by the submarine dive, which is approximately 35 minutes in length. Your expert narrator will inform you of everything from the formation of the Hawaiian Islands to many species of marine life unique to the Hawaiian waters. View fascinating natural and artificial reefs in air-conditioned comfort!

See thousands of brilliantly colored tropical fish, endangered sea turtles and wild dolphins, amongst the gorgeous coral reef gardens at
Pawai Bay, a protected marine preserve. Upon arrival at Pawai Bay, the knowledgeable crew will provide you with top-notch masks, fins and snorkels. Prescription masks are available as well as personalized snorkeling instructions.
