Experience Kauai's natural wonders from a perspective few visitors ever get to see. With expert guides, travel in an air-conditioned 4X4 van, off the beaten path, across streams. through the rainforest to the gate used in "Jurassic Park" and then by foot into the center of the island. Learn about history, culture, flora, and fauna of Hawaii as you ride and hike to the heart of Kauai. There is a total of about 3 miles of walking involved in this tour. The trail is not difficult but between the bumpy roads and the walking, this tour is not recommended for people with neck or back problems, people prone to motion sickness or people who are not at least moderately fit.

This tour is operated in the Wailua Forest Management Area, under a permit issued by the Na Ala Hele Trail Access Program of the Department of Land and Natural Resources. A portion of the price of the tour is paid to Na Ala Hele for the maintenance and improvement of trails on Kauai. Advance, paid reservations are required. Reservations are non refundable except in the case of weather cancellation. Group sizes are a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12.

Historic Princeville Ranch dates back to 1831, when the first 100 longhorns were imported to Kaua`i. One early owner was A. S. Wilcox, son of the founding missionary of Hanalei. First stop is Hanamaulu Bay. Films made here include Donovan's Reef, Pagan Love Song, To End All Wars, Voodoo

It's time to head into the hills, thru cane fields that are no more, to find the famous Wailua Falls. Used in the beginning of every Fantasy Island episode (da plane, da plane!), we travel several miles to reach the stunning vista overlooking this famous falls. In addition to Fantasy Island, it was seen in Kevin Costner's Dragonfly, James Garners Castaway Cowboy, a national Coke commercial and was one of the last stops during CBS's third season of The Amazing Race.

One of the first resorts in Hawaii, the Coco Palms reeks of history. Used as a location for over a dozen features, the resort is most famous for its' continuing connection to Elvis. The primary location for his biggest hit, Blue Hawaii, Elvis would come back and visit, or stay there while making other Hawaiian features. He even brought Priscilla and baby Lisa Marie with him on one trip.

They are the only people allowed to tour the grounds of this fascinating place, which is why they include it in both our 4X4 and Land Tours. The Coco Palms has been closed and fenced off since Hurricane Iniki devastated it in 1992.

Other features filmed on the grounds include Pagan Love Song, Miss Sadie Thompson, Fantasy Island, Voodoo Island, South Pacific, Deathmoon and Bird of Paradise with Debra Paget.

From there the tour goes to Opaekaa Falls, then into the Wailua Forest, going deep into Kauai's interior to find the magical place Steven Spielberg found to build the massive Jurassic Park Gate and ends in an area near the base of Mt. Waialeale, the wettest spot on Earth

Minimum age 5. Guests will be asked to sign a liability waiver to take this tour.This tour provides pick-up and drop-off at most East and Southside hotels. If you are staying on the North Shore, you can check in to our office at 8:15 AM.
The tour departs our office at 8:30 AM and will return between 2:00 and 2:30 PM, depending on traffic, etc. Please call for hotel pick-up times. Our office is located at 4-1596 Kuhio Highway, in Kapaa, across from the Kauai Products Fair.

Kauai kayak, hike, swing, zipline, ride

Not offered on Sundays
Take a fun downwind kayak trip on a beautiful jungle stream. After an easy 2-mile paddle, we'll take a short walk to a gorgeous area of water-falls and swimming holes. Next, a trip by covered wagon across Kipu Ranch- we'll be pulled by our big 4WD tractor to Kamapua'a Falls trail head. We'll take a short stroll down to our incredible Swiss Family Robinson-style tree house, which is built around a huge Banyan tree. You'll be overlooking the middle pitch of the 120' bridal veil Kamapua'a Falls from our picnic benches, while enjoying a delicious catered luncheon. Following lunch, guests will have the option of taking a wild ride on our 275' zipline over a waterfall and river, returning on foot via an 80' suspension bridge. State-of-the-art equipment and procedures make for a 100% safe and exhilarating “extreme” experience. From there we'll be continuing along our forest trail through the exotic foliage to Kipu Falls for swimming. The more adventurous types will be jumping into swimming holes at the base of water-falls cascading over black lava rock cliffs, and swinging on ropes tied to tree branches high above mountain pools. Others will simply relax and enjoy the quiet beauty! From there, we'll be cruising by covered wagon to a jungle trail, where we'll walk to our river landing. Kick back on our exotic and unique twin-hulled powered Hawaiian canoe for a delightful cruise back down river: a fun ending to a fun day.

4.5 hrs of ziplines, hiking, & rope swings

This Kauai activity is as fun as it gets!

Soar on zip lines through the forest canopy high above rivers and waterfalls. Hike, swim, and rope swing into a deep-water pond at the base of a mountain stream waterfall. Enjoy learning about the ecology, natural history, culture, folklore, and legends of Kauai.

The four Zip lines are designed, built, and operated according to the highest safety standards as set by the ACCT (Association for Challenge Course Technology). Each of them is different and unique. And, the setting is magnificent: Kipu Ranch, a 4000 acre piece of paradise that has long been closed to the general public. The lands run from the tall mountaintops of the jagged Hoary Head Range through pastoral meadows down to the edge of a lazy jungle stream. You’ll travel private foot trails winding through exotic forests to reach the rim of a narrow slot canyon. Fern covered black rock walls rise above waterfall after cascading waterfall. And that is where the fun REALLY starts. After a safety

briefing conducted by one of our trained, certified guides, you will be issued your state-of-the-art safety and climbing gear, and set out to travel over, under, around and through that gorgeous slot canyon under our expert leadership. You’ll go top to bottom through the forest canopy just about every fun way you can imagine: zip lines, elevated walkways,suspension bridges, and even the new and innovative Zippel line TM, that combines the use of rappelling gear with ziplining. And you’ll really get a kick out of our new tandem zipline- ride side-by-side, laughing (or maybe screaming!!!) through the tree tops and over waterfalls. Hooting, hollering, and ear-to-ear grins seem to be standard operating procedure!

A short hike through the jungle to the beautiful Kipu Falls for swimming and rope swings rounds out this exciting 4.5 hour tour. Once there, the more adventurous types will be jumping into swimming holes at the base of waterfalls cascading over black lava rock cliffs, and swinging on ropes tied to tree branches high above mountain pools. Others will simply relax and enjoy the quiet beauty!

Check-in: At our Poipu Shop- Morning Tour check in at 8 am, return at 12:30pm, Afternoon Tour check in at 1pm, return at 5:30pm.

Refreshments: Cold bottled water, and a delicious freshly prepared snack pack of 3 fine cheeses, red grapes, genoa salami, gourmet crackers, and a fresh-baked chocolate chip cookie.

What to wear and bring: Windbreaker or raincoat, swimwear, hat, sunscreen, aquasocks or sport sandals, bug spray, camera.
